Welcome, welcome, welcome to our blog! Take a look around. We have set this up in expectation of our fast approaching road trip "Coast to Coast". As you can see, there is a huge map with a huge route planned - 7,401 miles to be exact. This is our intended itinerary - time, weather, & finances permitting. Since we can't bring you all along, we are bringing our trip to you! We would love for our family, friends, and fans to follow us along the way. We plan to regularly update with pictures, postings, links, & experiences (good & bad). Our love for food will definitely creep its way into the blog along the way with visits to local "Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives".
We are 31 days away from our departure date! Early in the misty morning of Monday April 19th we will drive off into the sunrise towards our first stop.
Here's what we need from you:
Please check out our map and the cities we intend to visit. We know many of you have been to these places before. Since it is our first time in many of these places - help us out by leaving some comments with suggested sites to see, great grub to be had, photo op spots, or even advisories & warnings. Do this soon, since we are making more specific plans now.
Please become a follower of our blog to receive notification of our new postings.
We look forward to hearing from all of you!

We're all going to miss you guys too much while you're gone! But we know it's going to be an awesome experience for you! Can't wait for all your stories :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome trip ! Look forward to reading the updates.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!!! Your trip is going to be a blast & we can't wait to follow you in your journey. Btw, I'm SO excited that you're going through my home town of Chicago... "The Windy City." :) I have some wonderful places to suggest to eat. You'll never want to leave! YUM! LOL :D
ReplyDeleteIf you are in Albuquerque for lunch, go to Owl Cafe for green chili cheeseburgers and chili cheese fries (very spicy). Dinner at Gardunos for chili rellano's and the BIG margarita. Try to get a good view of the sunset, possibly taking the tram up to the top of the Sandia mountains. The mountain turn red and look like watermelon, which is what Sandia means. The sky is very big in NM and sunsets are often beautiful. We have let our friend Justin know you are coming.
ReplyDeleteWow what a fantastic trip it is going to be! Wish we could come too! How long are you gone for? Well about the only place I can comment on is New York and Wallkill. Unfortunately we didn't make it to Patterson, but Wallkill was great. We managed to get an invitation to lunch. You will really enjoy it. New York is fantastic, make sure you get slice of pizza there, they are HUGE! The Empire State Building is worth a visit, take a free Staten Island ferry ride and walk the Brooklyn Bridge. Brooklyn Bethel is lovely too. Enjoy! David & Kyleanne from Australia
ReplyDeleteWhich complexes will you visit? Just Brooklyn -- or Patterson and Wallkill? I highly recommend a stop at Wallkill since the printery is there, which is amazing. Once you know your dates I let me know and I'll be happy to help "hook you up!"

Brooklyn dining recommendations -- these are both a little upscale, but awesome and walking distance (safe neighborhood) from Bethel:

Henry's End
44 Henry Street

Both highly recommended by Michael & Melissa
Thank you for thinking of all of your friends and keeping us with you as you travel across the U.S.! We love you guys!!
ReplyDeletexoxo!
Looks like an awesome trip, and nice blog page.
ReplyDeleteMy two cents is in the thrill ride division...The world's fastest and tallest rollercoaster 456' and fastest 128mph is in Jackson New Jersey at 6Flags, if the park is busy I totally recommend getting the Flash Pass, pricey but more effective then advertised.
Sky Coaster in Kissimee Florida(right beside Orlando) is located at "Old Town". Old Town is cool by itself, but the sky coaster is the best bang for buck excitement I've yet to encounter.. also happens to be the world's tallest at 300' (285' for the flyer). On my wishlist is the sky coaster in in Canon City Colorado, your sort of near there, they have a sky coaster that swings over the gorge at 1200'.
Other then that, check out the Liberty Bell in Philly, and bring your walking shoes for New York. A New York city block is huge.
Over and out,
Dustin
Albequerque: Craigy says 'rattlesnake meuseum'.
ReplyDeleteLas Vegas: Hoover/Boulder Dam. Downtown walk.
Pensacola: Free Naval Museum (only if you like planes).
Orlando: Universal Studios and Disney.
Merritt Island: Kennedy Space Center. Beach.
Atlanta: Flowers in bloom at homes. The Watts.
Washington: Smithsonian, FBI, Air/Space museum.
Chicago: Museum of Sciance and Industry
Brooklyn: Coney Island.
New York: Times Square, Broadway Show.

We are all looking forward to your visit and all getting together as a family. All the other suggestions sound good. While in Utah you might call Cherris and Brian and get together with that part of the family. Sounds like a lot of fun 'trip'. Would give anything to stowaway & go along. A JoAnn
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing journey you are both on.
ReplyDeleteThat is a such a wonderful idea to report back your trip here, and share it with your family and the world. That is a very inspiring thing to do, plus will keep you abay on your travels.
Good luck in all that you do on your journey. :)
Very cool concept! This should make for an interesting blog and adventure.
ReplyDeleteThe shot between Chicago to Denver is probably the most boring, flat, straight, featureless stretch of road in the entire country. As soon as you exit the Chicago suburbs, you better have some good music available. Nebraska and Iowa have absolutely nothing but endless fields, and grass. Oh, did I mention FLAT!
I fell asleep in Iowa, almost ran off the road, so be extra careful there. The neat part though, is if you are driving that route towards the west, you will hit a point in Colorado that makes a drastic change. The road will start to incline upwards, then BAM! mountains. All of the rest of the trip is awesome and you will have loads of fun. I made it from Chicago to Denver in 10 hours straight driving.

When in New Jersey, be sure and take a tour (M-F, not weekends) of the Jersey City Assembly Hall (aka Stanley Theater). It's totally worth it.
ReplyDelete2932 Kennedy Boulevard
(corner of Pavonia Avenue and the Boulevard
at Journal Square). This is very close to a PATH train exit if you are taking public transportation.
